VII/- RELATIVE CLAUSE: (meänh ñeàø quan heä)

Laø meänh ñeø khôûi ñaàu baèng ñaïi töø quan heä. Ñaïi töø quan heä goàm coù who, which, whose. . . .

Who/ which: duøng noái lieàn hai caâu coù cung moái quan heä vôùi nhau.

Tröôùc ñaïi töø quan heä Who phaûi laø danh töø chæ ngöôøi.

Tröôùc ñaïi töø quan heä Which phaûi laø danh töø chæ vaät, söï vaät.

Ex: He is driver who has a good driving licience

A book which is on shelf is mine

Tröôùc vaø sau Whose phaûi laø danh töø coù lieân quan nhau.

Ex: The man whose daughter is a good student ia Mr Taâm.

Whose noái lieàn hai caâu coù moái quan heä veà sôû höõu (my, his, her, . . .)

Caâu coù chöùa ñaïi töø quan heä phaûi coù ñuû hai ñoäng töø ñöôïc chia

Ex: Aperson who writer books is a writer

Ruùt ngaén meänh ñeà quan heä:

® Meänh ñeà quan heä coøn coøn ñöôïc goïi laø meänh ñeàø tính töø (vì noù boå nghóa cho danh töø ñöùng tröôùc noù)

® Meänh ñeà tính töø coøn coù theå ñöôïc ruùt ngaén thaønh cuïm tính töø

Ving phrase (chuû ñoäng)

V3 phrase (bò ñoäng)

Baát cöù ñoäng töø naøo cuõng coù theå chia ra hai daïng tính töø:
